About the camp
Where: Звенів, с. Орявчик Сколівського району Львівська область
When: June 29 - July 5, 2025
Camp Interviews: If you are interested in attending the camp, you must attend a camp interview, which will take place in the Leopolis Molodiy Student Center.
Who can go: Students 17 years and older who study in L'viv, and who want to practice English while having fun!

Interviews

Those interested in attending the camp will need to attend a short interview. In the interview you will have a brief conversation (2-3 minutes) with an English speaker. This helps us to get to know you better, determine your English level, and to find out if you are a good fit for the camp.
❗There are limited spots available at the camp, so you must attend one of the interviews to be considered!
❗If you desire to participate in the camp, but cannot attend an interview, please let us know.
Interview Details
📅 When: Monday, May 5 or Wednesday, May 7 (you will be given a time to come between 18:00-20:00 when you register)
📍Where: Interviews will be held at the
Leopolis Molodiy Student Center

Who can apply for the camp?Students currently studying at a higher‑education institution in Lviv (university, college, institute, academy, etc), or who will begin their studies in the upcoming academic year. You must be at least 17 years old by the start of the camp.

What level of English is required?For the camp, we accept students from all different levels. The main thing is that you're ready to improve your English by speaking with native speakers!

Our Volunteers

Jon and Olya Powell
The Powell family have lived in Lviv for over 10 years. Jon, who is originally from the state of Virginia, is the director of Leopolis Molodiy, the student organization which organizes the Leopolis Green English Camp. His wife, Olya, is from Odesa, Ukraine. At the camp, she will handle all the administrative details, while dazzling students with different craft and hobby classes.

Douglas and Masha Shepherd
The Shepherds have been part of the camp since 2008 and have lived in Lviv for the last 12 years. Douglas is from the state of Texas and Masha is from Odessa, Ukraine. They have 3 kids (Chaz, Nika and Sophia) who add daily spice and entertainment to the camp. Douglas will help lead evening discussions and will also share with campers his knowledge of American sports and country music.

Heero and Anya Hacquebord
The Hacquebords have been involved with Leopolis Green English camp since 2008. Heero, originally from South Africa, was the first camp director. His wife, Anya, is from Kyiv, Ukraine. They have 2 children, Juliette and Christian, who are very active and fun to be around. Heero will help lead evening discussions and hobby classes. The Hacquebord family has lived in Lviv for 19 years. Heero serves as the pastor at Church of the Holy Trinity.

Virginia Crews
Virginia lives and works in Lviv with Leopolis Molodiy. Her first camp was in 2021 and she absolutely loved it. She believes it is a great camp to learn English, build community, and learn about the Bible. This will be her second camp. She helps with camp planning, leading language classes, and Bible discussions during camp. She is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to Oklahoma State University.

Andrew Sheppard
Andrew moved to Lviv in June of 2022 where he works with teenagers. This is his third time volunterring at the Leopolis Molodiy English camp after helping in 2019 and 2021. Andrew will lead English classes, Bible discussions, and sports. His favorite part of the camp is interacting with the students and building relationships with them.
