Jon & Olya Powell
Jon is the Camp Director, and this year will be his 9th Camp. He is from Washington D.C. and has lived in L'viv for almost 8 years. Olya is originally from Odessa, Ukraine and moved to L'viv in 2008. Jon and Olya met in L'viv and were married in 2011. Olya is the Camp Administrator and helps with just about every aspect of the camp. Olya will also amaze and dazzle campers with some of her craft and hobby classes.
Kirk Norris and Family
The Norris Family moved to Lviv in 2013. Kirk, who is originally from the state of Michigan, has helped with 6 previous English camps. Kirk is the director of Leopolis Molodiy, the student organization which plans the Leopolis Green English Camp. His wife, Anna, is originally from the state of Georgia and this camp will be her 5th. Together, they have 2 children, Lucy and Finn. And no, they are not related to Chuck Norris.
Nazar loves languages. Linguistics was his major in the University, so when he heard about Leopolis Green English Camp he immediately went for the interview. He has been helping organizing the camp since then. In his opinion, this camp is the best place to find new friends, improve your language skills and to have fun! Nazar loves boards games, especially when he wins:).
Liza studies applied linguistics at Lviv Polytechnic University. She first attended the Leopolis Green English Camp in 2016, and this will be her first year as a camp volunteer. She really enjoys coming to Leopolis Molodiy movie nights, and a fun fact about her is that sometimes she dreams in English.
Mykola first attended the Leopolis Green English Camp in 2016 will be coming back this summer as a volunteer. This time he will be helping our team organize and plan the camp, so that it's even more fun than it was last year! He is a 4th year student student at Lviv Polytechic University, studying computer science. He enjoys different sports and LONG conversations in English.
Heero Hacquebord and Family
The Hacquebords have been involved with Leopolis Green English camp since 2008. Heero, originally from South Africa, was the first camp director. His wife, Anya, is from Kyiv, Ukraine. They have 2 children, Juliette and Christian, who are very active and fun to be around. Heero will help lead evening discussions and hobby classes. The Hacquebord family has lived in L'viv for 10 years. Heero serves as the pastor at Church of The Holy Trinity.
This is Taras' third camp and his second as a camp volunteer. He really enjoys seeing the camp become better with each year and is particularly glad in the role he can play in it as a volunteer. In January of 2016, he finished his studies at Lviv Polytechnic University with a degree in architecture and is now eagerly awaiting the day when he can be photographed next to the very first building he designed!
Marichka is the only student volunteer currently studying Ivana Franka University in Lviv, working towards a degree in applied mathematics and informational technology. She first attended the camp in 2015 and this will be her second year as a camp volunteer. She absolutely loves coffee, which means that if you're trying to find the best coffee in Lviv, then she's the one to ask!
Dasha first visited Lviv 8 years ago with her classmates from Taras Shevcehnko University in Kyiv, and she fell in love with the city at first glance. Its' still very hard to for her to believe that she no longer lives in Kyiv, but actually now lives in her "Little Paris," Lviv. This will be Dasha's second year as a camp volunteer, something which is a great honor for her. She loves to spend time with other people, enjoys the beauty of nature, and loves music (especially studying it). She recently began learning how to play the piano!
Clarke and Khrystya Norton
Khrystya was born and raised in Lviv. She first attended the Leopolis Green English Camp in 2008 and has been attending ever since! One year later - in the summer of 2009 - Clarke moved to Lviv from Memphis, Tennessee.. During his first week in Ukraine, he and Khrystya met at a Leopolis Molodiy movie night. After a few years of being around one another and working together...they up and got married! They've participated in the camp for many years now, and they say, "Every year is the best!" A fun fact about them is that they talk about elephants at home A LOT.
When she was a child, Natalia always dreamed of becoming a surgeon. However, at the last moment she decided to that she wanted to do something more interesting and creative with her life. As she is currently a 4th year student at Lviv Polytechnic University, studying international information, she believes she has taken the first steps to becoming an international journalist, analyst, and translator. Natalia loves to travel, enjoys photography, and loves to relax with a delicious cup of Lviv coffee and an interesting book. She also very much enjoys studying English. She first attended the Leopolis Green English Camp in 2016, and she is very excited to return this summer as a volunteer!
